 💭 ☀️ 😎 MEDITATIVE MUSING: Get Your Self-Worth Mojo Back through Self-Celebration ☀️

Helllloooo my loves!

If you read my last newsletter, you know that in August, during Leo season, we’re curiously exploring the concept of self-worth.

Today, I want to dive into one of my favorite practices that has helped me connect more deeply to genuine (regardless of external circumstances) self-worth.

The practice of: self-celebration.

Oooooo, did the thought of celebrating yourself already make you tense up?

Don’t worry — that’s what happens to most of us when we first get introduced to this topic.

If you’re in this space, you may already be familiar with the practice of intentionally celebrating things through gratitude or rejoicing.

However, what typically happens with these practices (because it feels more comfortable) is that we focus strictly on the external things we have to be grateful for.

(Which is AMAZING, don’t get me wrong.)

But when it comes to celebrating ourselves, we can get all shy, feel awkward, or maybe the thought of “I have nothing to celebrate myself for” clouds our perspective.

Based on the beliefs we’ve been brought up with, we may even think that celebrating ourselves will lead to an egotistical mindset or an inflated sense of self-importance.

Nothing could be further from the truth. (Especially if you’re not used to celebrating yourself!)

Genuine self-celebration is the process of acknowledging the unique energy, strengths, gifts, and joy you bring to the world—without the ego trap of thinking these make you better (as a human being) than anyone else.

To clarify, you may be “better” in certain ways, like:

  • You may be more organized than someone else.

  • You may be able to stay calmer in a crisis than someone else.

  • You may be more vulnerable than someone else.

  • You may be better at Excel than someone else.

  • You may be better at running than someone else.

But that doesn’t mean you’re better (as a human) than someone else. It just means that’s the unique gift you have to share with others!

Getting clear on our strengths is actually a self-worth and spiritual MUST.

Ingraining these parts of ourselves into our daily awareness can help us not only feel more at home within ourselves and our bodies (regardless of external circumstances) but also motivate us to share these strengths more freely. This allows us to show up better for others when we realize the unique worth we bring to each relationship.

It helps us uncover our unique Dharma (Life’s Purpose) in every interaction, regardless of job title, career choice, or the current identity our mind tries to fix us to (mom, daughter, son, friend, etc.).

And it helps us acknowledge the worthiness of our presence—full stop—without needing to overextend, prove, please, or perfect anything about ourselves.

There’s a quote I love that says: "Walk into every room like God sent you there on purpose."

That’s the power of self-celebration.

Through consistent practice, we get to see our true power and impact—so that we can bring more of it into every room, interaction, relationship, or fleeting moment we’re in. (Even on our “off” days!)

And so, even if you’re sitting in your apartment alone, doing nothing, or just BEING, you can feel grounded in your own good vibes—knowing that you don’t “have to” do anything to be worthy. You GET to share the things that light you up about yourself with others—which makes it all the more effortless, easy, and fun.

So self-celebrate, my loves! And bring your brightness into the world.

Tips on how to practice are below.

✏️ WAYS TO PRACTICE: Self-Celebration

1 / Start a Self-Celebration Practice

Like I mentioned before in my post on rejoicing, one of the first things it asks us to do is to celebrate:

  • Your own “merit” (i.e. the strengths / talents, unique perspective, inspiration, “goodness”, kindness, joy) you bring into the world.

Don’t avoid this part! You can balance it out with the second component of rejoicing, but it’s importance to acknowledge the first part fully.

Each day or evening before bed take time to reflect on the goodness that you brought to the world. NOTHING is too small.

Because we spend the most time with ourselves out of anyone, we can see these things more easily with others — but basically become blind to our own gifts, strengths and the “goodness” we bring into the world.

Start noticing the moments you’re proud of yourself for, the characteristics of yours that you enjoy sharing with others, moments where you took the “high” road and the joy you share with others. List them out each day via journaling.

When you start to notice it, you’ll not only feel more grounded & grateful in yourself — but you’ll want to share that more + more.

2 / Mirror Practice

If you think celebrating yourself feels awkward at first, just wait ‘til I introduce you to a mirror practice.

(Awkward at first, an INCREDIBLE practice of self-love and for manifesting once you get the hang of it.)

After you’ve written down your list, repeat it back to yourself out loud while looking in the mirror. (Pro tip: make eye contact with yourself, trust me on it.) Move through any of the silly feels you may have while doing it — promise 🤞 it creates a rock solid relationship with yourself and a deeeep connection to your self-worth.

3 / Remind Yourself of This Before Big Events:

If you’re going back to the dating scene, or about to do a big presentation or meet your boyfriend’s family for the first time or interviewing for that next job: make a list of ALLLLL the things you bring to that experience and REMIND yourself of these things.

(Because I promise you bring a lot!)

In big moments, our minds can get clouded by the worries. But like I said in my last post — there’s unique gifts, talents, perspectives you bring to the world that are unlike anyone else’s.

So don’t forget them. And walk into that room like God, the Universe or whatever you believe in sent you there!
