DIVING INTO: THE MENTAL WEIGHT OF ALWAYS FIGURING IT OUT
Letâs talk about something I see over and over again â especially with high-achievers, visionaries, and the ones everyone counts on:
Youâre the go-to person. The fixer. The calm in the storm.
The one who always finds the solution. The one who âhas it together.â The one who makes it look easy.
But under that calm, collected surface⌠is your mind always on?
Are you quietly carrying the pressure of âhaving the answersâ for everyone else â while still trying to hold it all together for yourself?
Because letâs be sooooo real: being the reliable one can get heavy.
Youâre constantly solving, managing, figuring it out â even when your bodyâs screaming to slow down.
I want to say something that might land deeply:
You donât have to carry it all just because you can.
Why you're feeling this way:
We live in a world that rewards hyper-functioning and overthinking.
Youâve probably been told your whole life that being âon top of itâ is admirable.
That if youâre not solving, fixing, or doing⌠youâre falling behind.
So your nervous system learned: stay ahead, donât drop the ball, keep thinking, donât rest â youâll miss something.
But the cost of being everyoneâs rock?
Is that you rarely give yourself permission to just be a human.
To not know.
To not fix.
To not force clarity before itâs ready to come through.
The truth is â most of the people I work with (especially the visionary ones) are so used to figuring things out for othersâŚ
They forget how to feel safe, not knowing for themselves.
The science behind the spiral:
Hereâs whatâs actually happening in your brain when youâre stuck in overthinking mode:
đ§ Overthinking = less clarity.
Chronic stress reduces your brainâs access to logic and long-term decision-making. Youâre more likely to default to âsafeâ or familiar choices â even if theyâre not aligned.
đ§ Stress hijacks your perspective.
Youâre up to 80% more likely to make an emotionally driven or impulsive decision when you're stressed â because your brain literally deprioritizes rational thought.
đ§ High mental load kills creativity.
When your brain is in constant problem-solving mode, creative thinking drops by 20â30%. That makes it harder to see new ideas, solutions, or options â even when theyâre right in front of you.
So ironically, the more you try to âfigure it outâ by thinking harder, the more stuck you feel.
And thatâs where one of my favorite affirmations comes in:
âI donât need to figure it all out right now - life will figure it out for me.â
Why this works (and no, itâs not just woo):
This simple shift does two powerful things:
Interrupts the stress spiral: It signals to your nervous system: âWeâre not in danger.â That single message slows the panic loop.
Creates mental spaciousness: Your brain starts scanning not for threats but for possibilities. Thatâs when clarity tends to arrive. Not from force, but from space.
You donât need to work harder to see the answer.
You need to trust your capacity to receive it â once your mind is clear enough to let it land.
âď¸ WAYS TO PRACTICE: THE MENTAL WEIGHT OF ALWAYS FIGURING IT OUT
1. Use the affirmation â out loud.
When you catch yourself spiraling, pause. Put a hand on your chest. Say:
âI donât need to figure it all out right now - life will figure it out for me.â
Breathe into it, and let your body relax.
2. The Clarity Breath Reset
Close your eyes. Breathe in for 5⌠hold for 5⌠exhale for 5 âŚhold for 5.
Do it 5 times.
This calms your nervous system and shifts your brain out of âfigure-it-outâ mode and into presence.
3. Reframe the urgency.
When you feel like something has to be solved immediately, ask:
âIs this truly urgent â or just unfamiliar?â
âIf I trusted the next step would become clear⌠what would I do right now?â
Here's what I want you to know:
Youâre still wise when you donât have the answer yet.
Youâre still powerful when your mind is tired.
Youâre still whole when you step back and let life support you for once.
You were never meant to do it all, hold it all, solve it all, all the time.
Youâre allowed to rest. To pause. To let clarity arrive without chasing it.
Youâre allowed to let yourself be supported â by your breath, your practices, and the part of you that already knows whatâs next.
Trust that version of you. Theyâre waiting just on the other side of the noise.
