DIVING INTO: WHAT NO ONE TELLS YOU ABOUT CREATING YOUR DREAM LIFE

If you know me, you know I have long-standing beef with some parts of manifestation culture. 

From my POV, the way it’s most commonly spoken about:

  • Puts positivity (and the expectation of being constantly positive) on an unreachable pedestal. 

  • Emotionally and spiritually by-passes the full spectrum of human emotions. 

  • Teaches newcomers to bypass their subconsciously-stored emotions instead of releasing them at a core nervous-system level. 

  • And to a certain extent if we’re not aware, can have us overly attach ourselves to an external manifestation, which does nothing except attach our self-worth to external circumstances and keep us on the same cycle of chasing external validation through our “manifestations”. (Which life basically already makes us do.)

So if you haven’t heard it before, let me be the first to tell you: your dream life doesn’t come from vision boards and high vibes alone.

And setting goals isn’t enough if your mind isn’t on board with receiving them.

You can script your future, visualize it, journal it into existence, but if your nervous system and subconscious mind still think success is unsafe or unfamiliar - you risk the potential of either (unconsciously) sabotaging it, feeling the same way once you get it or not even acknowledging you’re living the life you once prayed for. 

Because manifestation without diving deep into the less high vibe parts of the journey - is like trying to febreeze sh*t instead of cleaning it allllll up. 

Let’s ground this in three truths no one talks about enough — and what to do instead.

1. Self-Concept > External Results

According to psychologist Gay Hendricks, most of us have an “upper limit” — a threshold for how much joy, love, or success we subconsciously believe we’re allowed to feel.

If you grew up associating love with instability…
Or success with isolation…
Or confidence with being “too much”…

That’s exactly what your nervous system is used to. 

Then, guess what happens when you start to level up or manifest something outside the norm?

Your system panics.
Even if consciously you’re saying “Yes, I want this!”,
Your subconscious is screaming “Danger!”

And without realizing it, you shrink.
You procrastinate. You second-guess. You undercharge. You settle.

OR: You just keep manifesting the same type of person, job, experience - without realizing why.

So if you want to create something different, you have to become someone different.

You have to train your mind to see yourself differently - rather than chasing the external outcome. 

Not in a fake-it-til-you-make-it way — but in a this-is-who-I-decided-to-be way.

Because manifesting has nearly nothing to do with the external result — the external result comes because you shifted who you were being.

So don’t attach to the outcome so tightly. Instead, focus on something you can control — showing up as the person you want to be day-in-day out.

2. Regulate to Rewire

When we attach our self-worth to an external “manifestation” — we bring along with us subconscious internal patterns that have been conditioned within our mind + body for “survival”.

(What we learned we had to do since birth in order to be loved, accepted and essentially to our baby brains where these core beliefs were formed — survive in our immediate external environment.)

When your body is in survival mode, your brain reroutes energy away from innovation, reflection, and creativity — and toward familiar, reactive behavior.

That’s why your most exciting ideas, biggest breakthroughs, and most empowered decisions never come when you’re burned out or anxious.

They come when you’re calm, grounded and when your system feels safe.

So no — regulation isn’t “extra.”

It’s not a luxury you treat yourself when you’ve gotten everything else on your to-do list.
It’s the foundation.


It’s the reason some people can leap and expand with grace — and others keep repeating the same patterns in shinier packaging, feeling the same no matter how amazing their life (externally) may be.

The more you regulate with each success, the more you rewire this new identity and reality to be your new “normal”.


And the more you rewire, the easier it becomes to lead yourself and your life with trust, not tension.

3. Goals Can’t Heal You

We’ve all felt it — the high of a big win followed by the “Is that it? Okay onto the next…” crash.

It’s called the hedonic treadmill, and research shows that even after achieving major life goals, we tend to return to our emotional baseline pretty quickly.

So no — the new job, partner, apartment, launch won’t magically fix your self-worth.
Not if you’re still carrying subconscious shame, grief, or fear beneath the surface.

The external win won’t shift the internal pattern — but healing and shifting the internal pattern?

That’s what makes joy last and get better and better as you go.

✏️ WAYS TO PRACTICE: WHAT NO ONE TELLS YOU ABOUT CREATING YOUR DREAM LIFE

🧘‍♀️ Nervous System Reps (5 min/day)
Breathe in for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 6.
Repeat until you feel a softening.
This tells your body: “I’m safe enough to receive.”

📓 Journal Prompt:

“If I already believed I was safe to have everything I want, I would…”
Let your answers surprise you.

🧠 Self-Concept Reframe:
Catch an upper-limit thought and gently redirect:

“It’s safe for life to be this good.”
“I don’t have to earn joy with suffering.”
“I am someone who gets to have this.”

You don’t need to burn it all down. You don’t need to hustle harder.
You just need to shift the story about who you’re allowed to be — and start training your mind to believe it.

This work takes practice, not perfection.
But every rep you take toward that new identity compounds.
And soon enough, the things you once dreamed of become your new normal. (And you meet them with so much appreciation and gratitude!)
