Message #51: The Parts of You You've Been Avoiding Are Not Unworthy of Love
Hi love,
One of the greatest keys I've found to creating the life you truly desire isn't a strategy, a habit, or a mindset shift.
It's learning to bring loving awareness to the parts of yourself you'd rather not look at.
Because so often, what's actually blocking you from what you want isn't a lack of effort or a lack of clarity. It's a quiet belief that you're not fully worthy of it.
Here's how this usually happens.
Somewhere along the way, you learned to put certain parts of yourself on a pedestal, and other parts somewhere far beneath it. The parts you don't want to admit exist. The parts you'd rather avoid feeling altogether.
And so, without realizing it, you started running an equation.
When I'm like this, I'm worthy of the relationship. Worthy of the money. Worthy of the win.
But when I'm like that... I'm not.
I can't have it.
It's not for me.
Not because that part of you is actually unworthy of love. But because somewhere in your life, an experience taught you it was.
Here's what's important to understand about the brain, especially in childhood: it wires itself to our external circumstances incredibly fast.
If someone close to you, even unintentionally, made you feel that a part of you wasn't worthy of love, your brain believed it. And it filed that belief away, long before you had the ability to question it.
So even now, in a much bigger world full of people who would love every part of you, you still hide that piece away. You still believe it doesn't deserve love. And in doing that, you quietly cut yourself off from love that's actually available to you.
I want to add an asterisk here, because this deserves nuance.
Unconditional love for yourself is not permission to react from that emotion in ways that harm the people around you.
It's an invitation to do something different: to turn the light on in the dark, to see that what's there is still love, just love that got buried. To take whatever that part of you is trying to tell you, and use it to make decisions that actually align with who you want to be.
Because that willingness, to meet even the parts of you you've avoided with love, is directly connected to your personal power. It's directly connected to your self-worth. And it's what allows you to shape a life that cares for yourself while still caring for everyone around you.
π Question to reflect on this week:
What part of yourself have you been keeping in the dark, believing it isn't worthy of love, and what might change if you finally turned the light on?
